Creating a Service Provider

Add a new provider of REST API services to the Service Workbench.

Implementation:

  1. Click to access the Service Workbench tab.
  2. Open the Provider Options menu and select Create New Provider. This opens the Create Provider form where you can specify the details of the new provider.

The information assigned to each provider has no impact on the functionality of the services it contains. It is only for internal reference and to make it easier for users to find the provider and services they need.

  1. Enter the name of the provider in the Provider Name field.
  2. Enter the name of the entity supplying the provider in the Provided By field. This is often the same as the Provider Name.
  3. Enter the provider's website address in the Provider Web Page URL field.
  4. (Optional) Click the Test URL button to open the website in your default browser to ensure it is correct.
  5. (Optional) Upload an image that will be used as the thumbnail alongside the provider in the Service Workbench. You can either upload an image by clicking Browse and selecting the file you want to use, or by ticking Use An Image From the Internet and entering the URL for the image to use in the text field.

If you do not add your own image, a default thumbnail will be used instead.

  1. (Optional) Click Upload to add the selected image.
  2. Click Create to confirm the creation of the new service provider.
