Using Incremental Search

Search for text within CDS markup or expression editor by typing directly into the editor, instead of having to open a separate dialog.

Implementation:

  1. Open the intended editor.
  2. (Optional) Press Ctrl+I on your keyboard to search forwards.

When incremental search is active your cursor will transform into a pair of binoculars and an arrow. The direction of the arrow indicates the current direction of incremental search - down being forwards, up being backwards.

  1. (Optional) Start typing in the editor, and the incremental search will look in the direction you specify for the nearest instance of what you type.
  2. (Optional) Press Ctrl+Shift+I to search backwards.
  3. (Optional) Start typing in the editor, and the incremental search will look in the direction you specify for the nearest instance of what you type.
  4. (Optional) To remove characters from your search use the backspace key.
  5. (Optional) Press the ESC key, or double-click anywhere inside the editor to deactivate the incremental search.
  6. If you make changes to the markup, click Save to publish these to the site.
