Creating a Dynamic Progress Indicator Using the Definition Bind Type

Create a dynamic navigation definition using navigation groups and action buttons to determine which buttons should appear in the progress indicator.

Implementation:

  1. Open the Properties tab for a dynamic Progress Indicator and click Configure.
  2. Tick the Enable Dynamic Progress Indicator checkbox.
  3. Use the Bind Type drop-down menu to select Definition.
  4. Select one of the radio buttons in the Definition tab to determine which navigation group will be visible.
  • Bind to Your Navigation Group Using Model Form (Question Group) Keywords - This links navigations groups to specific question groups. Using this option will ensure that buttons in a navigation group will always appear when the linked question group is viewed.
  • Bind to Your Navigation Groups Using the Result of an Action - This links navigation groups to the result of an action.
  1. (Action-bind only) Use the Expression Action drop-down menu to select the action that will run when the model is loaded. The result of this action must be a valid keyword of a navigation group.
  2. Switch to the Action Buttons panel.
  3. Create the navigation definition buttons to be assigned to the navigation groups.
  4. Switch to the Navigation Groups panel.
  5. Create the navigation groups you want to include in the progress indicator and add the related buttons to each.
  6. Click Save to create the progress indicator.
