Nominating a Home Page

Nominate a page to appear as the home page to a site. Every site must have at least one page chosen to appear when it is accessed by its primary URL.

Implementation:

  1. Click to access the Content Delivery tab.
  2. Click Pages to open the Site Map Inspector.
  3. Double-click the page you want to nominate.
  4. Switch to the General Details panel.
  5. Tick the Nominate As A Home Page check box.
  6. (Optional) Click Update to save and publish your changes without closing the active window.
  7. (Optional) Click Save to publish your changes to the site, and close the active window.

You may want users to see a different page depending on whether they are logged in, and whether they have a particular Role associated with their user account.

You can nominate home pages in each of the following categories:

  • Anonymous - The user will be taken here by default if they are not currently logged into your site.
  • Authenticated (Role-specific) - The user will be taken here by default if they are logged in and have one of the roles required to see the page.
  • Authenticated (No specific roles) - The user will be taken here by default if they are logged in, but they don't have any of the roles associated with role-specific home pages.
  • Open - The user will be taken here by default regardless of whether or not they are currently logged in. You should only use this type of home page if you are not planning on nominating one for anonymous or authenticated users.

With the exception of role-specific home pages, you should nominate no more than one home page for each of the categories described above. If you nominate a second home page in a category that already has one, this setting will be ignored unless you remove the nomination from the first one.

The category of your home page will depend on its Access Control settings.
