The contents of a grid's Definition panel determine the grid's layout. The order of columns here determines the order they will be presented to the end user - from left to right.

When you add or modify a column the Create Data Source Grid View Column window will open, where you can set the columns properties.
Creating a new data grid column.
The Column Type property determines what kind of content will appear in the column. The remaining fields in this window will depend to a large extent on the column type selected.
