Configuring a Traditional Chart Definition

Configure the general options for a traditional chart.

Implementation:

  1. Open a Chart question's Properties and click Configure to open the Chart Definition interface.
  2. (Dynamic charts only) With the General tab open, use the check boxes to define the chart's default behaviour.
  3. (Optional) Switch to the Appearance tab.
  4. (Optional) Use the options in this tab to define the visual settings for the chart definition, such as its size, background, and border.
  5. (Optional) Switch to the Anti-Aliasing tab.
  6. (Optional) Use the Anti Aliasing Type drop-down menu to apply an anti-aliasing effect to the chart's text, graphics, or both.

Anti-aliasing is best used for chart types and fonts with a lot of rounded edges. Setting this to None will make these rounded edges appear jagged and pixelated.

  1. (Optional) Use the Text Anti-Aliasing Quality drop-down menu to set how strong you want the anti-aliasing to be. Setting this to High will make rounded edges smoother but may decrease the chart's performance.
  2. (Optional) Switch to the Image Options tab.
  3. (Optional) Tick Render This Chart As An Image if you want the chart to be rendered as a base64 binary string, representing a static image file.
  4. Switch to the Chart Area panel.
  5. Add at least one chart area to the definition.
  6. Switch to the Series panel.
  7. Add one or more series to the chart, depending on its intended structure.
  8. (Optional) Switch to the Legends panel.
  9. (Optional) Add one or more legends to the chart.
  10. Click Save to confirm your changes.
