Appendix: Chart Types

The following chart types are available for use in both universal charts and traditional chart. All chart types can be used with any data bind, but some types are incompatible with others and cannot be combined in the same chart area. All charts shown here are for illustrative purposes and may lack realistic details required in proper applications.

Some chart types also require additional configuration using the Other Options settings. These are specified where appropriate.

Refer to the following table for more information on the different chart types:

Chart Type Description Further Reading
Area A line with a filled area underneath. Appendix: Area Chart Type
Bar Horizontally arranged columns grouped on the Y-axis, with values displayed on the X-axis. Appendix: Bar Chart Type
Box Plot Displays six or more values as a rectangle with whisker lines at either end. Appendix: Box Plot Chart Type
Bubble Represents data as single, unlinked bubbles, whose size is determined by the second of the two Y-axis values. Appendix: Bubble Chart Type
Candlestick Consists of a box that shows the difference between an initial value and a final value. Appendix: Candlestick Chart Type
Column Vertically arranged columns grouped on the X-axis, with values displayed on the Y-axis. Appendix: Column Chart Type
Doughnut Displays a single series' data points as proportional segments of a doughnut, totalling 100%. Appendix: Doughnut Chart Type
Error Bar Projects upper and lower error boundaries for a given series of data. Appendix: Error Bar Chart Type
Fast Line Similar to Line charts but optimised for large data sets to improve performance. Appendix: Fast Line Chart Type
Fast Point Similar to Point charts but optimised for large data sets to improve performance. Appendix: Fast Point Chart Type
Funnel Displays a single series' data points as proportional segments of a funnel, totalling 100%. Appendix: Funnel Chart Type
Kagi Line-based chart that uses different colours to show trends in data. Appendix: Kagi Chart Type
Line Displays each series as a line containing multiple data points that are joined together by straight lines. Appendix: Line Chart Type
Pie Displays a single series' data points as proportional slices of a pie, totalling 100%. Appendix: Pie Chart Type
Point Represents data as single, unlinked symbols. Appendix: Point Chart Type
Point and Figure Represents supply and demand data as columns of Xs and 0s. Appendix: Point and Figure Chart Type
Polar A circular graph containing lines, where the Y-axis represents the distance from the centre and the X-axis is the angle. Appendix: Polar Chart Type
Pyramid Displays a single series' data points as proportional segments of a pyramid, totalling 100%. Appendix: Pyramid Chart Type
Radar Displays a single series' data points as proportional sectors of a polygon. Appendix: Radar Chart Type
Range Plots two Y-axis values as two separate Line charts and fills the area between them. Appendix: Range Chart Type
Range Bar Plots two Y-axis values as the bottom and top value of a Bar. Appendix: Range Bar Chart Type
Range Column Plots two Y-axis values as the bottom and top value of a Column. Appendix: Range Column Chart Type
Renko Line-based chart that uses blocks to show trends in data, with upward changes represented by empty blocks and downward changes represented by solid blocks. Appendix: Renko Chart Type
Spline A version of Line that uses curved lines. Appendix: Spline Chart Type
Spline Area A version of Area that uses curved lines. Appendix: Spline Area Chart Type
Spline Range A version of Range that uses curved lines. Appendix: Spline Range Chart Type
Stacked Area A version of Area where multiple series are placed on top of each other. Appendix: Stacked Area Chart Type
Stacked Area 100% A version of Stacked Area where values are rendered as proportions of 100% instead of literally. Appendix: Stacked Area 100% Chart Type
Stacked Bar A version of Bar where multiple series are placed on top of each other. Appendix: Stacked Bar Chart Type
Stacked Bar 100% A version of Stacked Bar where values are rendered as proportions of 100% instead of literally. Appendix: Stacked Bar 100% Chart Type
Stacked Column A version of Column where multiple series are placed on top of each other. Appendix: Stacked Column Chart Type
Stacked Column 100% A version of Stacked Column where values are rendered as proportions of 100% instead of literally. Appendix: Stacked Column 100% Chart Type
Step Line Similar to Line charts, except the lines are drawn using right angles. Appendix: Step Line Chart Type
Stock Illustrates four correlating values to show how a data point has changed over time, including its start, close, minimum, and maximum values. Appendix: Stock Chart Type
Three Line Break Show trends in data using blocks. Upward changes in data are represented by empty blocks, while downward changes are represented by solid blocks. Appendix: Three Line Break Chart Type
